Developer Sphere Group and strategic partner Select Property are behind the flagship Edition Birmingham project which is the first residential skyscraper in the city to secure building safety regulator approval.
The 581-flat development will rise next to Centenary Square with homes split between the 46-storey Centenary Tower and 15-storey Park Residence.
Midgard, part of the JRL Group, will use modular construction to speed up the build, with phase one due to complete in 2027.
Thomas Taylor, managing director of Sphere Group, said: “The new Building Safety Act Gateway 2 introduces some of the most stringent safety requirements in the world, making the UK a market leader and one of the safest places to invest.
“Securing Gateway 2 approval is a major milestone and underlines our commitment to ensuring that Edition Birmingham is built to the very highest standards of safety and quality.”
Residents will have access to a 20-metre above-ground swimming pool, hydro pool, plunge pool, sauna and steam room.
Other amenities include a sky lounge with private dining on the 44th and 45th floors, a co-working space called The Study, and a 9,000 sq ft outdoor podium terrace with cinema screen and BBQ area.
Engineering consultancy is being delivered by SOM, Futureserv is the MEP consultant and interiors are designed by Weedon Architects
